Materials innovation goes beyond the lab.

NONA is an Italian start-up that designs and produces innovative materialsbased on European research, translating scientific advances into practical applications.

Nanoparticles, microemulsions and gels: the colloid and interface science we’ve worked on for years, turned into reliable formulations.

Today our materials care for works of art. And we’re just getting started: wherever precision matters, we want to make a difference.

Science by CSGI, solutions by NONA

CSGI, the interuniversity research consortium born in Florence, is our scientific partner. Its research on colloids and nanomaterials is the foundation of Nanorestore, and it keeps supporting us with its expertise as we bring new materials to restorers.

Starting from cultural heritage, where our expertise is strongest, we want to close the gap between a result obtained in the lab and a product that professionals can actually use.

Our shared goal: turning scientific excellence into sustainable market solutions.

Our quest for innovative solutions

1966 Florence Flood
1966

A catastrophic Florence flood highlights the need for art restoration, prompting Professor Enzo Ferroni to pioneer innovative physical chemistry methods for future conservation.

1993 CSGI Foundation
1993

Professors Enzo Ferroni and Piero Baglioni founded CSGI to merge nanoscience with heritage preservation, publishing extensively in leading peer-reviewed journals.

2011 EU Research
2011

By participating in key EU projects like NanoForArt and GreenArt, CSGI’s Florence Unit researches innovative materials, ultimately developing and commercializing advanced nanomaterials for art conservation and restoration.

2018 Nanorestore
2018

The Nanorestore trademark was established to ensure product quality and credibility, marking a major milestone toward building a successful business dedicated to conservation solutions.

2026 NONA Start-up
2025

Carrying CSGI’s mission forward, NONA redefines art conservation market by providing innovative solutions to restorers worldwide.
